Flower Fossils
2026 - Mixed media on Watercolor Paper
Mounted on Wood Panels
Flower Fossils began as a search for a more intuitive relationship between flowers, color and form. As I worked, the forms gradually became more abstracted, closer to an imprint. Working with earth pigments, collage, acrylic and botanical dyes, the flowers transformed, as if preserved within a mineral surface.
Built through slow, successive layers, each piece retains visible textures and subtle shifts of color. The works reward close looking and offer a sense of stillness, as if the image had gently surfaced from the earth rather than been placed upon it.
The title Flower Fossils emerged naturally from this process. It does not refer to fossils as frozen remnants, but to the delicate traces left by life itself.
As the series developed, the idea of traces became a central thread in my practice. I am drawn to the marks left by living beings on landscapes, and to those left by the passage of time on the objects we preserve and pass down.
Flower Fossils marks the beginning of a broader exploration of the traces of life: the imprints left by time, matter, and the living world.
